The stargazing party held on Saturday 21st January in the Science Theatre (and the School's Rose Garden after dark) at King Charles I School, Comberton Road, Kidderminster, was packed out with at least 80 members of the public, plus members of the Society.

Full house - the Science Theatre packed with members of the public enjoying the afternoon programme of lectures were aimed at members of the general public and members of the society alike. (Photo: Mike Bryce)

These afternoon lectures were:

Meanwhile ...

Member of Carolian Astronomy Society and the Midlands Spaceflight Society, Mike Bryce, sets up a stall that was much appreciated by visitors on the day, and Mike found that most of the hand-outs and other goodies were taken away! (Photo:  Martin Humphries.)

Jupiter with its four brightest moons (simulated using Stellarium software) as seen on the night.

And finally, later in the evening  (believe it or not the skies were clear)  we were able to take our visitors into the Rose Garden to look through the telescopes set up there.  One of the most popular objects was the planet Jupiter, high in the Southern sky, with its four brightest moons superbly clustered around the planet (see the simulated image above).
