Star charts

The Stars - January 2012, Kidderminster UK.

This page was last amended on 15th January, 2012.

The star charts published on our website usually represent the sky in Kidderminster on 15th of the month at 22:00 UT. At the same time on other day of the month the stars will be up to 15° to the E or the W of the positions shown here. Any planets on view may change their positions relative the background stars quite considerably during the course of the month.

The equidistant circular guide-lines represent 10° increments of the angular distance between the horizon and the zenith, not the declination of the objects concerned. You can see, for example, that Polaris is approximately 52.5° above the N horizon.

The dotted line that goes from approximately E to W on the S sky chart, near to any planets shown, is the ecliptic. It is low in the night sky in the summer and high in the winter.

The only stars shown are those of magnitude +4.5 and brighter.
